Criminal Trials, Hearings Payed Representation

In 2003 I paid $3500 to an attorney to represent me on a Habitual DUI charge. My drivers license was ordered suspended for life by the Judge, however I've been told that I could possibly get the Judge to modify that order. My question is this, does the attorney I paid in 2003 still have any legal obligations to represent me on this matter? Any help with this would be greatly appreciated...
