I live in a condo with a private street in front of it. There are parking spots on both sides of the road. Given that it's a private street, people often park on both sides of the road facing whichever way is convenient for them at the time. We've been doing this for over 5 years now. Well, a bunch of us got parking tickets today for parking "on left edge of roadway facing traffic" from a county police officer. Is the county police really allowed to give out parking tickets on private roads?

If the "private" road has been deeded to the county the police can ticket. If the road s privately held, the ticket will probably get tossed if you beef it.
I suggest you plead not guilty and find out.
The ticket may get tossed, if you simply fight it.
The easiest way to check is ask the owner of the street, I assume that is your HOA. Ask one f your elected board members, then proceed accordingly.
