My jurisdiction is: California

I'm just a an independent researcher and law afficionados. I'm just curious about of the legal word ' Res Jestae .Just
what exactly does ' res jestae ' really mean in
legal parlance? Is it connected to ' evidence gathering , ' or,say ' presentation of evidence '
regardless of the committed crime?(But,especially in 'criminal law.':dgrin) If
so,then, how successful does a litigant lawyer in using ' res jestae ' related to presentation,or gathering of evidence
in his,or in her actual ' court litigation practice?
