NY boat mechanic steals $42k + parts and goes to FL

Hello
I had a verbal contract with a mechanic I was referred to.

He cashed $42k worth of my checks stripped my boat of another $20k in parts and took off to Florida.

Nassau County will not go after him.

I am looking for a lawyer to go after him and we can split the amount we get as payment.

Can anyone help me?

The guy who stole my money and parts is missing.

If someone knows of a lawyer or someone that could help me it would be great

This has been devastating to me both emotionally and financially.

I do have many text messages from him stating he would put my boat back together but he never did
