Nieghbor notifies us he has dead chickens. I went to their property with his wife and she showed me the chicken coop. When we drove up the other neighbors dog was leaving the property, not our dog. The chicken coup door was very small and my dog could not fit through the door to get at the chickens The man told us he would NEVER shoot a dog. a few days later He called to say he had shot our dog for killing his chickens and he was in a field(not on their property) and to come and get him. He said he shot the neighbors dog too and that dog was dead on his property. All of this happened within a 7 day period. We have 2500. in vet bills can we take him to small claims court. if so is the burden of proof on them to proove he was on their property. They did not call the police befor or after the incident. We did though and the police seem to be siding with them based on their version of the story. Help....
