need advice

I have been contacted by a detective from a local police department in Texas. He stated that my former employer wants me to be prosecuted for theft. I have resigned my position a month ago with the understanding that I will not be bothered again. I have now found another job with a more promising future and better pay. I am curious if it is possible to settle this matter out of court. I really need to keep this off of my record because my new employer does not allow any kind of previous offenses. I'm at odds about turning myself in because I don't have the money or time to sit in jail over this matter.

With Police already involved it probably too late to settle out of court. You should talk to an Attorney. Do not answer any Police questins until you have done so
