We have credit card limits of $ 51,000, cards used to be maxed out, but trying to pay off. now owe of $43,000. Problem % rate is 20 - 25%. We've tried to get companies to lower them - no luck. We live on a fixed income husband retired, I'm on disability. We get about $2500 a month. Been paying 1200 to cards - only get credit for about 400.
We own our home & have approx $151,000 in IRA, but I understand if we use this we have to pay 38% tax of it.
Now my husband has cancer & we don't know what to do. It's taking a lot of $ for medicine. Right now we are thinking we may have to sell our house & move into an apartment.
Any suggestions how we can get them to lower rates so we can pay these off & maybe keep our house?

Thanks in advance for all your help & advice.
