I am brazilian, but I lived in USA before, from 1995 to 2003. I entered the country with a tourist visa, but then, I was living and working in the country with an irregular situation.
I never had any problems with the police or the law, and I always made my income taxes correctly.
I have a child who was born in 2001, in Utah state.
I left the country in 2003 because I suffered domest violence abuse from his father.
Since then, we live here in Brazil with my family and we never got to see his father again.
Someone told me that I would be able to apply for a green card and move back to USA, to give a better life to my child. Is that really possible?

When I sought legal counsel to apply for a greencard I was told that an immediate family member (Mother, Father, sister, brother, son, daughter), could sponsor me if they were living legally in the US. Your son could sponsor you with the appropriate paperwork.
