my lawyer died

I had a flat rate & paid up front, the lawyer died & estate refuses to refund my money although they cannot prove any work done.

advice?

The estate is bound to the contract. If he doesn't do the work he can't be paid. HOWEVER, just because you think nothing was done does not mean nothing was done. The estate may be able to keep part of the retainer if they can show work was performed.

Make a claim against the estate by filing it first with the Executor and then with the Probate Judge handling the case.
