My arrest record

I was arrested a couple years ago but the charges were dropped and I never went to court even. My husbands cousin got kicked out and we let him come stay the night. In the middle of the night, I guess he went outside and smoked marijuana. So then somebody called the cops and I woke up to a knock on the door. So I answer and the cops say they got a call. I let them in and let them search and sure enough they found a "roach" in the ashtray. And I told them upfront I have a gun registered to me. And since my husbands cousin wasn't there, and we couldn't get a hold of him, they took my husband and me to jail for illegal carrying of weapons(because it was in the presence of cds) cds in the presence of minors(because my children were in their rooms sleeping) drug paraphernalia. I was so mad!! We got bonded out and then his cousin went to the DA with us and explained and they dropped our charges. Will this show up on my background check in Texas when the arrest was in Louisiana? What laws are there on background checks ?

All arrest records are a matter of public record.
The FBI and the state police (or chief state law enforcement agency) in the state where you were arrested maintain copies of all arrest documents (mugshot, fingerprints, arrest reports, etc).
If an arrest was disposed of with a charge later being dismissed, or even if after trial a person was acquitted, that mugshot, those fingerprints, all that stuff won't be hidden.
It might be difficult to discover (I'd say its very easy to discover), but Jon Jones, or Susie Smith can pay a fee and PRESTO, they can see MOST, if not all that stuff.
In fact, many courts of record also maintain such records readily accessible by the public.
In other states, the lead state law enforcement agency allows people to query and have a looks see.
The sheriff of the county or parish where you were arrested, maintains a file, too.
Sites like www.spokeo.com or www.publicdata.com reveal all that juicy gossip.
The state DPS has a site: https://records.txdps.state.tx.us/DpsWebsite/CriminalHistory/

Here are a few more: http://www.instantcheckmate.com/

This one answers your question in great detail:

http://www.rcfp.org/private-eyes/arrest-records

www.bustedmugshots.com

You can try this one and see if YOU can find YOURS:

http://www.instantcheckmate.com/?sr...nt=450&affid=13&campid=70&sid=C2M&s1=450&lp=/

Those are just a few of dozens that for a fee (in some cases FREE) allow access to arrest data.

The only way to completely remove the arrest details is to get a FULL EXECUTIVE PARDON (federal or state) and that sometimes leave remnants and traces.

A very wealthy person can spend some moola and have it completely wiped clean, but most don't care, they're RICH already!
