Is My Public Defender Mis-leading Me?

I am "Appealling" A Conviction of ; Penal Code 459, (commercial burglary).
Why would my Public Defender advise me to plead guilty to a felony charge of Commercial Burglary {P.C. 459}?
Accordingly to Penal Code 459 {2nd.' commercial burglary} is only punishable by up to 1-year in county jail. (Misdermeaner).
On Advisement of counsel of the "Plea Bargain" ,why was'nt the charge reduced? I was denied by trial Judge (twice) A Motion to Withdraw Plea.
due to misreprensentation of effective assistance of counsel.
