Alcohol & Drugs: MIP, MIC, Intoxication MIP in North Dakota

I am days away from turning 20 and have never been in any trouble before I was walking to a friends and saw some of my friends driving down the road and asked them for a ride they said sure they just had to stop somewhere quick. I got in the car and they drove a couple blocks to buy some alcohol. After he bought it he placed it in the back seat next to me. An undercover cop followed us in a car and pulled us over and gave all of us MIPs and the person who bought it and MIC because he used a fake ID and may have been charged with other charges. As for me, I asked for a breathalizer because I had not been drinking and told them that but they did not feel it was needed and wrote me a citation for a MIP. I tried to explain how I did not know this was going to happen but it didn't matter. Is there any way I would be able to get out of this or fight it?

Fighting it is how you get out of it. Hopefully your friends will tell the truth about your involvement or the lack thereof. At worst it isn't that bad. Its like a ticket and no real big deal unless you get several of them. Go plead not guilty and tell your story, get your friends to back you up. Then get new friends! Good luck.
