I need to consult a lawyer. My sister and my niece were in NYC right after 9/11 visiting the site and a Brazilian newsperson took my niece pic without telling my sister for what or what kind of magazine. My sister thought was one of those not-for-profit Brazilian newspapers . After few months I find out over the internet, from our cousin that my niece, Julia Souto at the time was 5 years old, was in the magazine. It's a travel magazine, but they didn't have any authorization from her mother to publish her picture. My sister try to put them in court in Brazil but been a country where we can't count with justice was a waste of time. Can we sue the magazine now, after all those years? Can we sue them from here? My niece stills a minor. My sister is Brazilian/American citizen and my niece is only American citizen. They are living in NY now.
Please let me know if you can do something for her.
