Last night my brother, my friends, and I recieved a minor in possession for possession of a case of beer. My brother being under 18 also recieved a a curfew violation. Since I am 18, I can appear in court on my own, however my brother is only 15. Can my brother appear in court with me, or must he be with my parents? Obviously we do not want the parents involved as they tend to be a bit strict.
Also I have applied to many colleges, and am worried of the minor in possession appearing on the record. Will it be there if the college does a background check? If so, is there a way to get it off my record?
Finally, we got ahold of the beer by use of a "beer run" fortunatly for us, the gas station did not press charges and thus we only recieved an MIP. Will the judges know the story behind the MIP, or will he only know the fact that we recieved a citation?
