I have been making payments $400 - $800 per month on a $63,000 Open Heart Surgery Hospital Bill. No Insurance, I just got a letter from a collection agency. I thought if you were making an effort to pay they couldn't hand it over to collections?

can they garnish my pay check from another state, I work in Tennessee the hospital is in Georgia. Do they have to give me a chance to make payments
