I traded a 1968 Pontiac Firebird for $2000 plus some body and mechanical work on another car I own. The mechanic said the only way he would do it is if he held on to the Firebird as collateral. He let me keep the title.
After nearly 4 months, he did some work on my car but has not completed it. He delivered it unfinished telling me he wanted the clear coat to cure for two weeks before he finished the job.
He also said he would pay the rest of what he owed me last Monday. He didn't. In fact, he is not answering his phone, returning phone calls, and he hasn't been at his shop.
What legal action can be taken if this guy tries to cut and run with the Firebird without completing his end of the deal?
Thanks.
