H Visa MD working with J2 Visa?

My jurisdiction is: Indiana, US

I will be accompanying my husband who is doing a urological fellowship on a J1 visa in indianapolis. I am a canadian family physician, and am trying to decide if I need to find an employer now who can help me attain H1B, or if I can enter and work on a J2 as a primary care practitioner once I find employment there. (I do not yet have a prospective employer)
Is there a benefit to H1B?
Is there a salary cap on J2?
Any idea on how long it takes / likely I will get my EAD for J2?
