My girlfriend and I have freely visited each other in the US and Canada for a year now. We want to get married. She plans on keeping her job in Windsor long term and living with me in the Detroit area after legally acceptable. We freely go back and forth each week.
My question is if we get married in the US and file the necessary paperwork in preparation for her becoming a legal US resident. Can we continue to visit each other throughout the process? I realize that normally on a fiancee visa she would be required to remain in the US. However, this is not a option since she wants to continue her job long term. We ask for nothing more than continuation of being able to spend time in each others countries/residence on a weekly basis until she can enter the US as a resident legally. This is a major concern of ours. I have heard some nightmare stories that you lose your privledges of visiting the US/Canada once you file for residency in the US.

Why not get married and petition for her to immigrate on a spouse (K-3) visa?
