I live in SF area, CA.
I am married to US citizen, and I got my conditional green card last year.
But being stupid I did shoplifting and got caught. I got arrested, spent a night in jail. Went to court, got sent to diversion program for first time offenders, worked 40 hrs of community service, went to one day class for first time offenders. Went back to court after 3 months, after completing all requirements and the case dismissed and charges dropped.
Thank God, no conviction. But there is arrest record.
The maximum possible sentencing for petty theft that i've commited was 6 months in jail or/and $1000 fine, according to the CA penal code.
I paid only $250 court fees.
Anyway, next year I suppose to file to remove condition from my GC. Is that gonna be a problem? Should I hire a lawyer for filling application for condition removing?
