I gave my employer a 2 week notice, as required per the handbook, and was told I was no longer needed as of Friday. So now I am a week without pay (Which is truely needed money). My question - Can I file unemployement to recover some of the money ? Is there anything I can do at all? I am in the state of GA - Right to work state...

Thanks!

You should check the employment handbook regarding their procedure. Did you discuss with them this seemingly unfair labor practice? It would seem that any time an employee gives notice, which advance is required, they will simply fire at will and save salary. There may be a reciprocal benefit which may protect you.

Unemployment is covered by a specific and different set of rules. You need to check with the State Dept. of Labor to determine whether you would qualify.
