My ex-gf and I signed a one year lease agreement in August 07 for a home in Lititz, Pa. One month later she decided to leave the relationship as well as the house. Considering the monthly lease is quite expensive, she verbally agreed to continue paying a small portion of the lease to help out. She assisted with two payments and then decided she no longer needed to help. The landlord will not entertain the idea of allowing an early termination of the lease and rightly so. Obviously I am still occupying the property and making the required monthly payments, however I am unable to maintain all of my other financial responsibilities since the ex has decided to stop assisting. I understand that if the lease defaults due to nonpayment the landlord can sue whomever he wishes, however is there anything I can do to force the ex to maintain her contractual obligation? I'm not looking to settle a score or anything. I'm a full time single father and trying to keep stable and this was unexpected and is negatively impacting my ability to take care of my financial responsibilities. Please help.
