lapsed auto insurance and tags

I would like to know what I could do if my auto insurance has lapsed and I cannot renew my tags. Is there anything I could do of getting this taken care of other than turning in my license plate. Please give me a solution if possible thanks

I did purchase insurance and when I went to get my tags renewed they said I had to turn in my plate for a month

I did get my insurance and when I went to get tags they said my plate would have to be turned in for a month before I could get my tags renewed. I do not have a way to work to give up my license plate. I was wondering if there was any other way of solving this situation without giving up my license plate for 30 days. Please get back to me if you have any advice.
