I have some friends from Spain that are moving to Brooklyn for one year. They were here in NYC and viewed an apartment and decided to take it. They signed their kid up for school and then talked with the owner/landlord of a condo who agreed to rent to them for one year. They left for Spain on friday and then on Monday got an email from the landlord that he would not rent to them. No explanation. Is a verbal agreement also in email binding in NYC? He had taken no money and the lease was not signed.
