runaway juvenile my sister lives in tennessee turning 18 in February what is expectable when or if she is caught before and after she turns 18? She thinks if she runs until 18. She's legally an adult and will be no consequences. Is that true?

No, it's not. We can't say exactly what will and will not happen since the crystal ball is out being recalibrated. But if she believes that once she turns 18 she's home free and no one can hold her responsible for what she did when she was younger, she is mistaken.

And, of course, anyone who has aided the runaway child could still be charged even if SHE cannot be dragged back home against her will when she turns 18.

On the contrary, once she is 18 law enforcement will not care. This is a status offense. Once she is 18 absolutely nothing will happen when she is found. She will remain as a missing person until someone has contact with her, but she will not be taken against her will and returned home.
If she is located before she turns 18 steps will be taken to return her to the custody of her parents so she can get a change of clothes, a hot meal, and run off again.

Before 18 - returned home to parents.
After turns 18 - nothing, she can be on her own.
