As we don't get many posts from certain countries, e.g. India, I'm considering banning traffic from there. The overwhelming majority of spam unfortunately comes from hiring out youngsters in India for peanuts and having them blast well ranked sites and forums with posts. Unless you're vigilant and have good tools, this will continue to persist. Thankfully the forums here are relatively free from spam and the new stuff coming up on the site this month will also be equipped with anti-spamming tools. Muchas gracias for your help, as always.
