My jurisdiction is: North Carolina, U.S.
I went to a postal annex to send some legal documents to my ex-husband. I marked it certified, return receipt and restricted delivery. When I got the receipt back instead of him signing for it his mother had signed for it. I talked to the post office in Lansing, MI where he lives and the postal annex in NC. and they blame eachother. Now I can not prove he knows about the court date and if he does not show up the Judge can throw out the hearing. I want to know who is responsible for the problem and if I can sue. I have spent $200.00 on this matter and had to tell my 8 year old that her adoption is still pending.
