Personal Bankruptcy is bankrupty the correct move?

I would like to know how a person that is truley bankrupt can file.
I am on welfare program with a 7 month old child.
I have told the credit card companies I have no money and my van was repoed.
I own nothing after a divorce and child custody battle so nothing to lose.
How can I start over and file is I don't have the money to do so.
Can I just keep telling these people I am broke for the next 10 years...I hope not :blush

Contact your local bankruptcy court and ask them the procedures and if they have forms available for you to file on your own. Also, ask if they have lawyers that provide services on a sliding scale fee or free of charge to people who can't afford it. You may also google your state laws on bankruptcy or type in "How to file bankruptcy in ..." and then add your state name.

You might want to tell us what you have tried already to remedy the situation. Then we could see what else is left and advice you. The first remedy before any others is to work with them……….. they normally have many programs which you could qualify for. Tell us what you have tried and we could go from there………….
