Alcohol & Drugs: MIP, MIC, Intoxication Is an open container violation a misdemeanor?

I received a Code Violation Notice in Philadelphia, PA for 10-604 "Alcoholic Beverages". I had an open container in public. I wanted to know how serious this is. It is $75, but I am worried what will show up on my record.

Is it something that will be just like a speeding ticket, or will it be worse? I am worried about it showing up in background checks for jobs. Do I need to seek legal help?

It is likely an infraction, which is less than a misdemeanor. Check with your local agency to learn the classification or do some Googling.
This would not likely turn up in a criminal background search, however it may show on your driving record for a tine.
