Vincent is a deadbeat father from a previous marriage, now remarried and a long-term crack addict, residing in New York State. Originating from Indiana with his current wife, he owes child support back in Indiana. Can he be extradited to Indiana if his previous wife is notified of his currently receiving SSI? Can SSI wages be touched for child support or should he just face fugitive charges? Could a bounty hunter track him down? He is a recidivist.

Can deadbeat father be extradited and child support garnished from SSI?

Can/should Vincent be extradited to Indiana from NY if he owes child support from his previous marriage and his former spouse has found out he has SSI?

Thank you for your suggestion. I find it satisfactory.
Hello:

If the person in question is in fact on SSI, then that money is protected from child support obligations. If he is on SSDI, then 50% of that income can be deducted for current and arrears child support.
