What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Washington State

Casino: Muckleshoot Casino

This is actuallly a case for my father, but I'm going to write it as if it were me (makes it easier).

Went into the casino Saturday night to make a post-debit transaction.. took out $500. Went to the cashier to get the money.. the cashier said the machine was down.. I thought nothing of it so I went back to check my statement and I had already been charged. I went back to the cashier and told him about it and he told me there was nothing he could do. I asked to speak to a manager and he told me there wasn't anyone available. Waited till Sunday morning.. called the bank and told them that I never received any money, they referred me back to the casino and instructed me to have them fax some info.

When I arrived there were several managers in a meeting about this issue, they just didn't know it was about me. When they figured out it was about me they just told me that they were aware and took my receipt and left me there. They didn't give me any information.. I just stood there for over an hour waiting to hear something about my money.

I saw one of the managers walking around in the casino and asked about the issue. I was told that the cashier was supposedly running a scam, he would take the money and hand it off to an accomplice (who is not behind bars). I asked about getting my money back and I was told that there is going to be an internal investigation...

I got home and filed a police report.. the cop agreed with me and couldn't believe my situation. I guess the cop has to wait until tomorrow to get in touch with one of the higher up managers.

I also got a call later this evening from the casino head security (he didn't know that I went to the casino this morning to ask about the money).. he said they had a suspect and if I wanted to press charges.

My question is: Isn't the casino liable for the actions of their employees? Why didn't they give me my money back? Is there any way I could sue them? The cashier did forge my signature and stole from me (they showed me the receipt that was signed by him.. at first they said I did it) .. I'm pretty sure this is a good case.

Any employer is responsible for the acts of his employees during the course of business. I don't think you have a difficult case to make and it would probably be in the casino's best interests to make you whole after a short investigation. I'm sorry this post is late and I didn't realize it earlier. I hope and am sure you received your money back!
