My question is the following:
Once becoming officially a legal immigrant, can you expect punishment for a certain previous period of illegality? Or the illegal page is already closed, and only the legal status matters?

Your illegal status is evaluated before you are approved to be legal. So if approved, don't worry about the past. There would be no more penalties for living here illegally.
