I am not working but I am over 18. I'm in California. If I don't even have the money they're asking for, can they get money out of my credit cards and future jobs I get? They're asking me to pay their medical bills and all bills that have anything to do with their injury later on. If I can't even afford it what can they do to me? I don't think I'd really lose in court, but in the case if I were to, should I even bother closing any accounts I have that are shared with other family members?

Thanks.

A judgement will entered against you and garnishment of wages may be made. Joint accounts may be able to be accessed so yes, close those joint accounts and open one only in your name.
