I Need Help Please

I was about to turn into a left turn only lane, but the traffic was backed up a little. There was a little space between the car and the curb so I thought I could sneak through. However, i ended up scratching the car next to me a little with my side mirror. We ended up pulling over onto the next curb to see the damage. On their car was a little scratch about 4-5 inches, but nothing on my car. They both seemed a little angry but they said that it was ok. They did not take my license plate number nor call the police to file an accident report nor were there any witnesses that pulled over to talk to us. I was just wondering if they could still file an accident or memerize my license plate number and then try to sue me or something. If anyone has any information, that would be greatly appreciated. thanks
