My friend has been battling cancer for 4 years and has been in terrible shape for most of it.While in the hospital it was recommended that she go into home hospice because there was not longer anything that could be done for her. She agreed and had a home care provider come over from hospice. All the while she still had to see her regular doctors for different pain mangagment and other things to help her. Now the insurance company is saying that one on Hospice you cannot get any of your Dr visits or any procidures taken care of during the time you received hospice care. She has 20,000 in bills, is there anything she can do?

Her insurance policy should spell out how to appeal such a determination. However, IF these exclusions are spelled out in the policy, her chances are not good at getting the insurance to pay for it. The policy is not required to pay for charges that are excluded.
