I have a misdemeanor Battery Touch Strike on my record from 1996 1 1st and only offence Disposition Guilty 12 months probation with court costs Is it impossible for me to purchase a Handgun now ? Can i

It depends on a couple things, OP.

If this was the result of a domestic violence case, obtaining a gun is a "NO NO".

Under Florida laws, even a misdemeanor domestic battery conviction isn't a bar to purchasing a gun from a private seller.

But, federal laws prohibit a federally licensed gun dealer from selling a firearm to persons convicted of domestic batteries.

I suggest you know the EXACT charge before you attempt to purchase a gun.

Even if you are successful and pass the online background check at time of sale by a licensed dealer, the ATF does further random checking and investigation.

So, what looks okay today, could turn sour in six or nine months.

Your best bet is to speak to your local sheriff's department or FDLE Office before you proceed.

Better safe than sorry, and an unofficial online website can't give you permission to do anything.
