I need to get my H1B stamped too and am very scared. I am not sure if I should even cross border or not.
I came here on visiting visa an converted it to F1 in 1999. In 2001, I got arrested for shoplifting for $10 in MN when I was on F1. That was accident. I got lawyer and I had to pay fine for$50.00 and I was under suspension/probation for one year. The lawyer told me that I was arrested BUT NOT CONVICTED.
Now, I am on H1B and in 2005 when my status was H1b, I got arrested again in IL. I got a lawyer.The judge gave me 3 days of SWAP (Sheriff Work Alternative Program) some court charges which I paid and was in suspension/probation for a year. My suspensioon got over on April 28th, 06. The lawyer told me that I was not convicted under IL LAw but aressted.
I am on H1B and want to go to Canada and get my visa stamped. I am really really scared and don't know what to do. However, I do want to get visa on passport.
Please advise me what to do??? I hope u understand my situation.
