Permanent Residency Green card renewal

I have 3 years with my green card but I comminted a petty theft 2 years ago I did some searching and I think my case will apply for the petty offense exclusion ,instead of aplying for citizenship will I be able to renew my green card once it expires.

I forgot to ask will probation affect the petty offense exclusion. I was given 3 years probation, 1 day in state jail for booking, and the maximum sentece for petty theft in california is 6 months I think.

Why are you looking at the petty offense exception now?There should be no implications related to removal but the crime could prevent you from showing good moral character. If that's the case, you would have to wait five more years after the commission of the crime to apply for citizenship.
FYI, probation does not count when determining the consequences of a conviction, the sentence imposed (even if suspended) is what matters.
