Hello all,
I am just curious about this. At work today I found out another employee gave out my phone number to a customer. I work at a Gas Station and this could be very bad if given to a customer I have made mad or something obviously. My boss just kept making excuses like "he thought it was a friend" or he just didnt know... But I find this unexceptable, and maybe illegal? What should or can I do. My boss says he will talk to him, but i'm curious if I have a course of action if this kind of thing happens again.

Thanks Peoples /wave

No, it's not illegal. I expect your phone number is available through any number of means if someone wanted to get hold of it, i.e. your local white pages, on the web, etc. An employer giving out employees' phone numbers and addresses is not a good practice but it's not illegal.
