Personal Bankruptcy Gift certificates

Not sure if this is the right forum or not, I apologize if it's not. My husband bought me a $200+ gift certificate to a local spa. Said spa has gone out of business with no warning. I contacted the building owner and he said the business owner just left the keys on his desk one day and walked away. She owes him money and he doesn't know where she is. He said he thinks she claimed bankruptcy but doesn't think it was approved. I have *no* idea what step to proceed to next to try to get our money back. We're a family of 7 and my husband is in college fulltime and works weekends. $200 is a LOT of money, I want to fight for this money. Any idea where to go next?

If she filed for bankruptcy you need to contact the trustee and ask to be added as a creditor. It is VERY unlikely though you will see any money. There are probably bigger creditors already in line ahead of you. Or you can sue her in small claims but you probably will have to sue her company.
