My husband insisted that we purchase the house I live in from my mother and that she hold the mortgage while the deed be titled in both our names. Although I did not want to purchase the house, I agreed and let it happen. Within 1 week of the first mortgage payment, he decided he no longer wanted to be married after 20 years. He now want me to take over all responsibity of said house as our children and I live in the house. I am disabled and the only income I receive is from social services. My mother would like to just forclose on the house. Can she simply take over possession of the house and put the deed back in her name? If so, what cost would be involved in the forclosure for all parties? She paid the taxes that were due and the current monthly payment has not been made, what rights does she have concerning this matter.
