back in 2008 i was arrested and charged with "deriving proceeds from prostitution" for giving an escort for a ride to a hotel, in a police sting operation. my horrible public defender, who charged me 500$ cash on the side to get me a "better deal" told me that since my adjudication was withheld in my case, that i would not be a felon as long as i paid all of my fines and completed probation,
i have stayed out of trouble for the last 3 years and recently filed to have my record sealed not even expunged, which my lawyer said would not be a problem, and FDLE has rejected my request because of 2 prior duis in 2000 n 2006.
i am now trying to find work in even another county in floirda but my charge shows as a conviction on any criminal backround check done by potiential landords and employers, as well as showing up immed. on google in the newspaper when my name is searched for..
So my question is... am i a felon or not? i can purchase a gun 3 years after my probation is up? and the adjudication was withheld? so why does it still show as a conviction to leasing agents and employers?? help please, i need to find a place to live and work!
