My fiance and I are co-defendants in a Grand Theft/Receipt of known stolen property case in Orange County. The person who is the actual criminal who stole the money and computers left the country. We obtained attorneys who do not believe in our innocence and advised us to plead guilty to the charges. We signed the plea agreement in July 2003. Now our attorneys are telling us that the judge is going to change add on to our sentence unless we bring in $10,000 restitution prior to our Nov 17th sentencing date. First of all we never agree to restitution and we did not take any money. Everyone else is advising us to go to trial to fight this. Our attorneys have not asked for an contradicting evidence that we do have and we believe we do have enough to dispute the charges. Our attorneys have deceived us by telling us to recall conversations on our sentencing and they still have not provided us copies of our plea agreements (3 months ago). Any suggestions?
