we have been divorced for almost 7 years, my ex just hired an attorney and took me to court to request more child support despite the fact that in our original divorce decree it states that before any suits requesting modifications are filed we must first attempt mediation. this was never done. what should i do?

Your problem is that Texas state law will probably trump your order.

No judge can countermand state law, or any law.

I suggest you speak with an attorney, and do as suggested, make your argument before the court.

If she is using the Texas AG's Office to reach an agreement, you don't have to agree to their terms.

You have the RIGHT to have this heard before a District Court Judge.

And if the original order hasn't been modified in 7 years, you can expect your obligation to rise.
