Loaned boyfriend couple grand to purchase work truck- my name on title (luckily)
He breaks up with me and takes off with truck. I gave him time to make some payments but nothing. Asked for truck back or payment, he blows me off. I make arrangements for him to drop off truck with civil standby- he no shows. I report it stolen.

He gets arrested at SF airport for possession of stolen vehicle. He bails out and gets a court date. I pay another grand for tow, impound and come to find another $700 of parking tickets.

Now what? He's has a permanent resident card- is deportation on the table? Is there jail time? Do I have to go to civil court to attempt repayment or will the criminal case set restitution?

All of his crap is in the truck- what is my responsibility with holding on to his stuff? Can I sell it?

Wow.
Cut your losses.
No, don't sell his junk.
Collect it and mail to him, or return it to him.

If he has no proof it was in there, are you sure you saw it?
Did the tow company or police list his crap on an inventory sheet?
Don't answer. Think.

He may be deported.
Even if he isn't deported, don't expect to get a dime from this bum.

Don't buy big ticket things for anyone you aren't married to in the future.

You'll probably end up eating this one.
