Error in car sales contracts

Received a call from the dealership stating there was an error in the amount of tax I was charged on my vehicle. They told me I need to resign my contract. Is this something I need to do?

Doing so may change my monthly payment which I could not afford.

it would have to be a pretty major blunder to significantly change your payment.
Did they clarify if you were over or under charged?
So long as the rest of the contract remains unchanged it is harmless to sign the amended contract. Failure to sign could lead to an additional bill to collect the difference or repossession of the car.
Just ensure the sales price and all other terms remain the same as the original.
