Corporate Law entergy meter not working properly

I need to know how many years or months a business can go back and charge you for a mistake on their behalf.I got a bill in the mail stating my meter wasnt working and it took them almost to years to figure out there was a probelm,even though someone comes and reads my meter every month.Now they want me to pay over 2,000 dollars for their mistake.Is this even legal?

Your state Public Utility Commission should have guidelines on how far they are required to go back for reimbursement purposes.
