I was convicted of a DWI 2 yrs ago this month. I completed a year of probation, all required community service, and classes and counseling required, however I'm concerned about my auto insurance. I went to school with my previous insurance agent's son and so when I went in after my conviction to request SR-22 insurance I was ignored and told that and as long as I didn't get in any accidents or major traffic violations requiring them to check my driving record I should be able to continue my coverage with them. Well recently my friend retired from the insurance business and I now have a new agent and am more than a little concerned that I may be found out and my coverage dropped. I know that it will remain on my criminal record for 10 yrs and my driving record as well, but what are the limitations as far as insurance accountability? I've heard somewhere that it was two years and I've also heard that it is three. By the way all of this is taking place in Texas...

Please help:(
