I live in Florida and I am a renter. The property that I am renting is recently in foreclosure due to the owner not paying the mortgage. I do not know what stage the foreclosure is actually at but I've been getting letters from the Govt for the past 3 months. And when I talk to the owner he says that he will let me know when it is getting close to the time that I will have to move my things and get out.... My question is Should I still be paying him rent if the house is in foreclosure? And if there is any kind of renters rights that I can look further into to answer this question.

Thank you.

Most tenants / renters lose their leases upon foreclosure. In the majority of states if the mortgage was recorded before the lease was signed, a foreclosure trumps the lease ("first in time, first in right" rule). Many do not pay rent while the home is in foreclosure given this situation but you should discuss with your landlord. Some foreclosures are avoided.
