I am the owner and general contractor of a residential building company in California. A subcontractor filed a mechanics lien for his work. The amount of the preliminary lien is less than the amount of the Mechanics lien. Since then, the subcontractor has filed an action against me as well. Am I responsible to pay the full amount of the Mechanics Lien or can I dispute it because the preliminary lien was inacurate?
