My niece is in a home with my ex sister in law. She is not her biological daughter. My brother is not in a position to try and get custody. However, she keeps texting me that she's scared and can't take it anymore. When I ask her why, she tells me she's being verbally abused and sometimes her mother pushes her to the ground. Is there a way, for me to get her, at least temporarily? I live in Idaho and she is in Utah?

In a word, no. That is unless her parents agree to let her live with you. If you have reason to believe the child is really in danger contact CPS. Out of state placements are rare. Placements with the sibling of a non-custodial parent are even more rare. You can ask, assuming she is going to be removed from the home, but no guarantees.
